RefWorks

You may have heard about RefWorks by now or you may have come to our Refworks workshop offered at Buley this past semester. Believe it or not, so far, we got only positive feedbacks on this bibliographic management software. It will arrange your bibliographic information into APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, IEEE and over 100 other styles of your choice in a matter of seconds! Feel free to contact me for a short session if you are interested in learning to use RefWorks or just click on the RefWorks Guide. Follow the instructions step by step and discover the wonder of this software all by yourself.

Bibliographic Instructions

B.I.s on how to use the library resources both electronically and traditionally continue to be offered to you and your classes in our electronic classroom located in Bu17 (or Bu 314 because of the coming renovation). You can fill out your B.I. requests online either through the library homepage or by clicking the link here. Feel free to indicate any research assignments and topics you'd like me to cover during the session. To be able to book the room during the time frame you want for your class, please put in your requests at least 2 weeks ahead of time. I'd be more than happy to drop by your office so we can talk about how we can help you and your students better in their research. All you need to do is to contact me.

Submitting Your Book Orders

The book budget remains the same this year. You may continue sending your orders to your library liasons. I'd like to encourage you to double check CONSULS first to make sure that we don't already own them. As for new journal titles, please be aware that we are considering adding more e-journals and electronic databases. So if you know of any good electronic sources in your area, please forward the information directly to me.

ERIC Update - June 2004

ERIC will introduce a new Web site on Sept. 1, 2004. The new centralized ERIC will provide users with a modernized system that is easy-to-use, comprehensive, and up-to-date, with many free-of-charge full-text resources.

The redesigned system opening to the public on Sept. 1 will provide users with increased search capabilities utilizing simple, stremlined retrieval methods to access the existing ERIC bibliographic database (1966-2004).

On Oct. 1, 2004, ERIC will introduce free-of-charge full-text non-journal ERIC resources, which include more than 105,000 full-text documents authorized for electronic ERIC distribution during 1993-July 2004, previously available through E*Subscribe from the ERIC Document Reproduction Service (EDRS).

In Dec., ERIC will add new bibliographic records and full-text journal and non-journal resources from 2004. Newly indexed materials that are not available free will be made accessible through database links to commercial sources.
