I wish you've all enjoyed the holiday season!
The book orders have been completed for the physical year. I will keep forwarding the new book lists to your library liaisons. If anyone who wishes to receive that information, please forward me your email address and I'd be more than happy adding you to my mailing list.
Thanks to the help from some of my library liaisons,
I got hints on what keywords to use in looking for new books in certain fields.
But I need more inputs from those of you who feel that we need books on more
specific areas. This way, I will be able to locate more books according to your
curriculum needs. Here is a list of the keywords I have on some of the topics
Again, as a reminder, I would like to mention that library instruction classes are available upon request. Your students can get a general introduction on how to use the library resources or a comprehensive training and hands-on workshop tailored to your specific needs. I also offer individual tutoring to your students on library resource retrieving skills. (Believe it or not, I've got possitive feedback from all my classes on the library sessions, whether it be an 1-hour or 2.5-hour long. There were stuffs that they weren't aware of until then.)
If you, as instructors, feel like refreshing on your library searching skills, I would be glad to arrange a time to go over them with you. With more and more new electronic databases subscribed by Buley, you may want to remain on top of all these. As you may already know, this will save you time in your research and we depend a lot on you as advocates to bring your students to the library.
In case you didn't know, the newest education related database we got is E*Subscribe, which is accessible through ERIC. It not only offers links to a lot of full-text ERIC documents, but also allows you to search by ERIC numbers. There is also a shortcut to search for ERIC documents through ERIC Search Wizard.
Once again, please don't hesitate contacting me and asking any quetions you may have in regard to library use and book/media orders. I look forward to hearing from you or seeing you and your students here at Buley.
