Sarah Crawford

Director of Research

Dr. Crawford is currently an Associate Professor of Biology at Southern Connecticut State University. She is head of the Cancer Biology Research Laboratory in the Biology Department that focuses on experimental cancer therapeutics. Her research studies have been presented at numerous international conferences and have been published in peer reviewed journals. She is also the author of two published comprehensive marketing reports on clinical and preclinical cancer therapeutics. She is the recipient of numerous CSU research grants as well as a grant from the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
Her past and present professional associations include membership in the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Association, American Medical Writer's Association, Society for Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Gayle Nobert

Adjunct Professor of Biology

Ms. Nobert is currently an Adjunct Professor of Biology at Southern Connecticut State University and a Per Diem Nurse at Connecticut Valley Hospital, Forensic Division. She has worked as Lab Supervisor at the Cancer Biology Laboratory at SCSU and has presented research studies both locally and abroad. She has publications in peer-reviewed journals, and she co-authored a published marketing research report on preclinical cancer therapeutics. She has worked as a Registered Nurse and has been active in the clinical setting for over 20 years.
She is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the American Microscopy Society. She is also a member of both the University of Connecticut and Southern Connecticut State University Alumni Associations.
Herbert Potter

Research Scientist

Mr. Potter is currently employed as a University Assistant working in the Cancer Biology Lab at Southern Connecticut State University. He has over 7 years experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and support having formerly been employed by Bayer Pharmaceuticals in West Haven, CT working in Solid Dose Manufacturing.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Connecticut State University and was the awarded Departmental Honors in Biology for his undergraduate thesis: “Preclinical Experimental Chemotherapeutic Approaches for Treating Glioblastoma Multiforme”. He is also one of the inventors on a provisional patent involving the discovery of novel cell components associated with tissue organization and morphogenesis.
Tasino Herbert

Research Intern

Mr. Herbert , a 2008 Research Intern at the Cancer Biology Laboratory at Southern Connecticut State University, was formerly employed as a Research Assistant at the St. Kitts Biomedical Research Foundation and received a Mentorship at the CRISP (need the formal name here) program. As a member of the Yale Surf Program, he worked on nanoparticle characterization utilizing electron microscopy. In addition to his training in the use of the electron microscope, he is experienced in confocal microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.
He was awarded Departmental Honors in Biology for his research thesis Experimental Studies of Cyclopamine, Curcumin, Berberine on Treating Glioblastoma Multiforme , and he is co-inventor on the aforementioned provisional patent with Herbert Potter.
