Research Sources

Research Sources are meant to help students through the massive field of British Romantic studies, whose boundaries are constantly changing. As students may feel overwhelmed by the great mass of research available, this section includes several aids or bibliographic guides, which are large general reviews of research by experts in the field. In addition, there are links to related Web sites, standard journals devoted to British Romantic studies, and anthologies of essays covering many relevant topics and research areas. Anthology essays can be uneven in quality, so students are encouraged to choose and read carefully and to consult book reviews (many of them available online) of the collections.

Students interested in finding bibliographies of individual writers of the Romantic era should consult the anthologies under Secondary Works; an online link, with a partial list of writers and sources, can be found at Romanticism: Selective Bibliography.
