Physics for Today

Introduction

___________________________________________

I have modified and provided answers to some of the more illuminating review questions and exercises from Hewitt's Conceptual Physics , 10th edition. I have also included 'Things to Know by Heart' at the end of the three major divisions. You should commit these rules to memory as we cover them is class. This website should be used as another resource that is available to assist you in this introductory physics course. It is not a substitute for the classroom experience were the real magic happens, or the textbook-your two main resources. You may only use the contents of this site if you are a student of mine. I hope this helps you in your studies. Please help me to complete my mission.

You can get a maximum of 20 points extra credit during the semester.  One of the most popular 2 point EC opportunities is to do a review of a Science Times article, from the Tuesday New York Times.  Just write a one page summary of the article, then staple your summary along with the article or a copy of the article and hand them in.

For a clearer understanding of the material, you may want to visit Murphy's Corner for some extra credit writting assignments, or you may want to write to grandma and explain some physics topics.

If you are mathematically inclined, you might be interested in the topics listed in the further thought section .
If you are interested in completing a 5 pt. extra credit science project, check out the science toys at http://www.scitoys.com for some pretty cool ideas, or you might be interested in entering the weight-tee shirt contest.

Please list extra credit points and why I owe them to you, on the top front page of your exam.
