The Department of Nursing has was founded in 1970 and began offering graduate programs in 1985. Currently it offers programs to prepare Nurse Educators and Family Nurse Practitioners. Students may elect to attend full time or part time. A limited number of Nurse Traineeships are available.

The Department received a full 10 year accrediation from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing in 2002 and from the State Board of Nurse Examiners the same year. Graduates from the FNP program are eligible to sit for national certification and have consistently performed above the national average on that test. They are eligible to be liscensed as Advance Practice Registgered Nurses in Connecticut (APRN).
