Lois Lowry Hotlist

Below is a hotlist designed to give you some background information on The Giver. (A hotlist is a way of helping students engage in focused web-research. You will be divided into three groups and asked to do the following in each group.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Read through at least one of the webpages that are assigned to your group. Everyone must read at least one of the websites.
  • Select one interesting or engaging fact from the website and one question that you have about Lowis Lowry or The Giver--after reading the information on your website. Everyone must right down these items on a separate sheet of paper--with their name and date at the top of the sheet. EVERYONE WILL TURN IN A SHEET.
  • Finally, you group must agree on two interesting facts to share with the larger group. You will want to write these things down in Microsoft Word, so that your group can describe these things to the full class while your writing is projected up on the screen at the front of the room. MAKE SURE YOU USE AT LEAST 18 POINT FONT--SO THAT WE CAN SEE WHAT YOU'VE WRITTEN.
