Logic Writing Assignments 4 and 5

Assignment 4: In various print media (e.g., newspapers, magazines, books – not off the internet), find examples of 3 different fallacies with irrelevant premises. (This may require a trip to the library.) Political speeches, articles covering political debates, editorials, and advertisements are particularly good sources. Don’t share your fallacies with other students in the class. Photocopy each of the ads, articles, etc., and circle or highlight the relevant portion of the text. On a separate paper, restate or summarize and identify each of the fallacious arguments and back up your identification by identifying the relevant features of the argument. Email me the paper by Sunday and 5 pm, and bring the entire packet to class on Monday.

Assignment 5: Do the same thing, only with 3 fallacies with unacceptable premises.
