Berkeley and Hume Paper

In response to Locke’s realism, Berkeley develops his idealism and Hume his skepticism about matters of fact. (Hume isn’t skeptical about relations of ideas.) Briefly summarize each of these metaphysical views, including Hume’s critique of causation. What are the tensions Berkeley identifies between Locke’s realism and his empiricism? Why does Hume think skepticism is a more appropriate response than idealism? How is Reid’s direct realism an alternate way to resolve the tension in Locke? Finally, which of these four metaphysical views do you think is most plausible, and why? These questions don’t have to be answered separately or in the order they are given.
