Locke Paper

(1) Although there are strong similarities between Locke and Descartes’ conceptions of knowledge, there are also significant differences. Summarize the main differences. Do you think that the influence of Locke’s empiricistic account of the origin of ideas is responsible for these differences? If so, how? If not, what is the reason for these differences? (Minimum 2 full pages)

(2) How would Descartes criticize Locke’s account of the origin of all ideas in experience? Pick a point in Locke’s account where you think he is particularly vulnerable and pose a debate between him and Descartes. State arguments in support of each side. Which side do you think is stronger and why? (Minimum 2 full pages)
