Derrida Paper Guidelines

I want to give you leeway to choose a topic in which you are very interested and perhaps is related to other work that you have done, though I need to approve your topic before you get started. I recommend that those of you who are new to Derrida or philosophy concentrate mostly on explication, and that the others be more ambitious, maintaining an independent set of concerns alongside your explication. The paper needs to satisfy the following general criteria:

1. The content should be primarily philosophical. Other topics can be brought into the paper, but they should be used primarily to address philosophical issues.

2. Discuss in detail the logic of aporia and at least one of our readings, though they don’t have to be the focal point of your paper. You are welcome to examine other Derrida texts, but be careful not to stretch yourself too thin.

See the course website for guidelines on writing a philosophy paper and Derrida resources.
