Final Paper Guidelines

Write an essay about globalization and its implications for the conception of race and racism. By conception of race we mean the idea of race (the acknowledgment and understanding of differences in human groups based on biological and/or cultural traits), which is very different from racism (a negative look at those differences). Make sure to consider compelling positive and negative consequences of globalization on these issues.

Even though globalization and colonialism are two different social and political phenomena, it is helpful to think about their similarities in relation to the issue of race. So, please include in your essay a comparison between them. Considering that this is our final paper, you are expected to include in your arguments enough references to the readings of the course as well as the issues raised in our class discussions.
