Short Paper #4

According to Omi and Winant, race consists in both social structure and the representation of various groups. Invisibility is one of the main forms of racial representation that we have read about and discussed in class. Using Beavoir, Dyer, and Bernasconi, explain the difference between the invisibility of whites and the invisibility of racial minorities, and how this solves the apparent paradox that each of them, in a certain way, also has a high social visibility. By way of conclusion, briefly explain (maximum ½ page) the best way, in your view, to combat these forms of invisibility.

Minimum 3 full pages, maximum 4.5 pages (number pages and staple); 12 point type; Double-spaced; 1-1.5 inch margins; Separate cover page; No extra spaces, extraneous titles or headers, or anything else intended to make the paper appear longer than it really is. Provide full citations for all quotations or paraphrases, including page numbers.
