Paper Guidelines

In this paper, I want you to write on one of the issues in Greek philosophy that we have or will be discussing in class (e.g., Socrates’ account of virtue, Plato’s description of the soul and city, the Epicurean claim that happiness is pleasure, Anaximander’s discussion of the arche). You will need to provide a clear and detailed discussion, and to compare the particular Greek view you are discussing with modern views or theories. You are also encouraged to include relevant material from outside of class, such as from your major, personal interests, etc.

You need to meet with me during my office hours by Friday, November 9 to discuss your paper topic.

Paper due: Friday, November 16 at the beginning of class.

Requirements:

5 full pages minimum to 6 1/2 pages maximum

Times Roman font, 12 point type

Double-spaced

No additional spaces between paragraphs

One inch margins on all sides

Page numbers

Stapled

Separate title page with name and class

Cite any sources you quote or paraphrase (include page numbers; any standard style of citation is acceptable)

Take your final draft to the writing center: Much of your grade will be based on how well the paper is written.
