Self Evaluation Essay

In taking the course English 112 I have advanced my knowledge and skills in several areas allowing me to meet the course objectives.  In my SEE I will be proving to you by using ethics and logic to support my reasons why I merit a high pass.  My ability to write what is expected of me has improved, as well as my technology experience and the knowledge of working around the web.  All together I feel that this class was of great asset to me and I merit a high pass.  I am a hard worker and extremely eager to learn new things.  At the start of this class I was very overwhelmed with the many challenges I had to conquer, however I have completed each of the challenges to the best of my ability and welcomed constructive criticism to help better my work.

In my journey of completing my first assignment which was the Biography, I struggled with where I was going to start and how to even start.  I wanted to write about my whole life from start to finish, however by doing the assigned readings and class workshops I realized how to work with just a spot light part of my life.  However with the learned rhetorical knowledge of the proper use of voice and tone I was able to use the third person for this writing assignment.   I chose to write about what made me want to be a teacher and what led me to be where and who I am today.  In using visual technology throughout my paper I was able to help my readers really relate to my writing.  In my Biography, entitled “The Smile of Success Is the Route to One’s Ambition,” I included my favorite picture of a child smiling to show an example of how I feel when I look at it. (See Bio) I used critical writing to apply situations I have experienced growing up to show how my interest for becoming a teacher developed.  For example, “Stacy is one of three of her family and is one of thirty-nine cousins.  Stacy’s family is extremely faithful on tradition and have family gatherings often. (Bio. P1) This shows that I come from a large family and how I’m used to being a role model as well used to be surrounded by young children.  I also show my past work history and patterns of advancement in my bio such as:

About five years ago Stacy began her first job started off as a daycare assistant.  Stacy’s daily duties which consisted of snack preparation, project preparation, and interacting with the children.  Two years later Stacy was promoted to a teacher and her added duties were to make lesson plans on weekly bases, classroom management, and other daily needs.  At this point Stacy knew that her longing to be a teacher was really her calling. (Bio. P2)

This to me is showing my ability to achieve my goals I come across and adds to my dream of becoming a teacher.  In the writing process of this paper I wrote two or more drafts, however I have only included two of them into my portfolio.  My first draft did not include the MLA format citations; although after the peer workshop and learned conventions I was able to add the proper citations to my second draft.  Also in completing the workshops I was able to increase my words to meet to required count.
