Text:              Statistics, By James T. McClave and Terry Sincich,  Prentice Hall, New Jersey, 2000 Ninth Edition

 

Exams:          3 unit tests, 1 Final test  and 1 project.

 

Attendance: Is mandatory! You are responsible for work you miss. Please be on time. 

 

Class:            During class time I will lecture and assign problems to do in class.

 

Homework:  Will be given every week! It will not be collected.

 

Quizzes:       Will be given regularly and can be given without advanced notice!

                        Quizzes will be 1 or 2 questions based on the homework. Quiz grades will be combined to count as 30% of your final grade. Missed quizzes can not be made up! Your two lowest quiz grades will be dropped.

 

Grading:       Exam average 50% + Quiz Average 30% + Project 20%

 

Project:         Will be given towards the end of the semester and will be a 2-3 page report.

                        In accordance with Math Dept. policy, no late with drawls will be granted.

                        You should always bring your text and a calculator to class.

                        The focus of this class is solving problems. This means you must THINK!

 

                        You will need access to a computer with a web connection, email and spreadsheet, like Excel.

 

                        Mathematics is a skill, so it must be practiced.
