Progressive Librarianship
The politics of librarianship--and especially the central role in democracy of libraries in providing the broadest possible access to all people of the broadest possible set of information--is a special interest of mine and one of the primary motivators for my study of library science. As I learn more in this area, this page will keep growing, so please check back. In the meantime, below you'll find some of the links I've found to other individuals and groups working on this topic. Also, a quick plug for three of my current heroes in progressive librarianship:
- Lincoln Cushing, of Docs Populi-documents for the public (including collections of labor movement and Cuban poster art and terrific essays on libraries and labor)
- Kathleen de la Peña McCook, of A Librarian at Every Table and other work on librarians and community-building
- Rory Litwin, of Libr.org (the online home of much of the progressive librarianship world)
